Business English is designed to strengthen studentsâ€™ ability to read and write in the workplace. Writing for business purposes is a main focus of the course. Students will learn how to communicate effectively through email and instant messaging, as well as format specific types of business messages and workplace documents. The role of digital media, visuals, and graphics in workplace communication will be explored. The importance of professionalism, ethics, and other positive skills are also emphasized in the course. Additionally, guidance is provided to help students through the process of searching, applying, and interviewing for a job.

You will sharpen your writing skills as you evaluate literary works with regard to literary technique, form, and theme.

In English 9B, you will study a variety of techniques to improve your reading comprehension and writing skills. In English 9B, you will read and analyze Shakespeareâ€™s play Romeo and Juliet, as well as read speeches and essays to evaluate their arguments. You will write evaluations of literary works with regard to literary techniques, form, and theme.

In Ohio English Language Arts I, Semester A, you will analyze techniques in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction texts to analyze thematic connections and inform your own writing and in-class discussions.

Ohio English Language Arts I B (Credit: 0.50)
